People are always asking what specific materials I use and where do I get them, so I've decided to add the list below.  One thing that you must understand is that I am always experimenting with different brands, manufactures and colors.  Just because I have it on the list now doesn't mean that it will be there six month from now.

PASTELS

I recommend that each workshop artist  have a full set of hard pastels and at least 90 pieces of a softer brand like Rembrandt, Girault, Mount Vision or Blockx.  For soft accents in the studio use an 80 piece 1/2 stick set of Sennelier.

I use many brands of pastels from hard to soft.
The ones that I use most often are:

Cretacolor (under painting)
Prismacolor Pastels (formerly Grumbacher)
Girault
Blockx (my new standard set)
Diane Townsend (great greens)
80 piece 1/2 stick set of Sennelier (good accents but I don't take them on location)

For my surface I use only Kitty Wallis Sand Paper mounted on board and some surfaces I make myself.  I mostly use the white surface but sometimes use the Belgian Mist tone.
